To determine if a property is located in an eligible rural area, click on one of the USDAabove and then select the Property Eligibility Program link. When you select a Rural Development program, you will be directed to the appropriate property eligibility screen for the Rural Development loan program you selected.

Highly populated areas such as Charlotte NC, Hickory NC, Rock Hill SC, and Concord NC have ineligible areas. USDA ineligible areas are shown as the yellowish tan portions of the map. But, see how much of the Charlotte suburbs are USDA eligible. Certain pockets around highly populated areas create pockets of eligibility as well.

The ineligible areas shown on these maps do not apply to Farm Labor Housing financed under Section 514 and Section 516 of the Multi-Family Housing program.
Eligible properties must be located within USDA-defined rural areas. USDA’s website has a search option that will determine a specific address or region’s eligibility. Particular areas of the U.S. can be searched and viewed and the map indicates whether or not the subject area is geographically valid.
